1st Round - 1st Overall
MICHAEL VICK - QB - Virgina Tech  --  6'1 -  212 -  4.27

The Falcons have their QB of the future in the athletic Vick. However, Chris Chandler's injury history may mean that Vick is thrown to the wolves early.
If not, expect to see the Dirty Birds do some  things to get Vick involved.

2nd Round - 35th Overall
ALGE CRUMPLER - TE - North Carolina   --   6'2 - 265 - 4.75

A good athlete and the 2nd best TE behind Todd Heap. A better blocker than Heap though and will be a nice pair of big hands to have around for Michael Vick and/or Chris Chandler.

4th Round - 99th Overall
ROBERT GARZA - C - Texas A&M-Kingsville   --   6'2 - 292 - 5.0

Garza showed he could play at the Senior Bowl and his stock rose. Maybe the most athletic of the Centers in the draft but is not as strong. Right now, Todd McClure is the projected starter but don't count out Garza.

4th Round - 102nd Overall
MATT STEWART - LB - Vanderbilt    --

Jesse Tuggle is getting older and injuries are starting to rack up. Mark Simoneau looks like his heir apparent but now Stewart will be thrown into the mix. At the least, he's a Special Teams player.

5th Round - 136th Overall
VINNY SUTHERLAND - WR - Purdue    --    5'8 - 190 - 4.45

With Tim Dwight leaving, the Falcons are looking to Sutherland as their speedster and return man, something he did well at Purdue. He may not be more than a return man though. Probably their fourth WR.

6th Round - 167th Overall
RANDY GARNER - DE - Arkansas   --   6'4 - 271 - 4.77

A taller, lean Defensive End who can get after the passer. Could use more bulk and has the frame to add a little more bulk. DE is definitely a weakness on this team and I'm surprised they waited so long to draft one.

7th Round - 215th Overall
COREY HALL - S - Appalachain State   --   6'3 - 205 - 4.5

This is a 7th Rounder with some ability. A great athlete that needs to polish his game and develop his coverage skills. With some coaching, this could be a real steal.

7th Round - 219th Overall
KYNAN FORNEY - OT - Hawaii   --  6'3 - 300 - 5.15

A versatile and mobile blocker with good quickness. Still needs development in terms of strength. Atlanta has some young players at OT, so Forney may have an uphill battle. He may make the team as a reserve.

7th Round - 226th Overall
RONALD FLEMONS - DE - Texas A&M   --   6'5 - 250 - 4.75

Fleming has height but needs to add more weight. He is known for being somewhat of an underacheiver. He does have some athletic ability but will need to work hard in camp to earn a spot.

7th Round - 236th Overall
QUENTIN McCORD - WR - Kentucky   --   5'10 - 190 - 4.44

Again, the Falcons try to recover some of the speed they lost when they traded Tim Dwight. McCord does bring the speed but isn't going to contribute as a WR which is something Atlanta needs.

FINAL GRADE: A- Vick makes all the difference. He could be a really, really special player. How they bring him along will be the key. Crumpler was a nice pick at 2 and I like Robert Garza. They should have picked a DE earlier and a WR with more pass catching abilities than the ones they did. The real sleeper here is Corey Hall.

Darrick Vaughn
RB Darrick Vaughn was a huge surprise for Atlanta as he led the league in Kick Return average and scored a 101 yd TD with a cast on his right hand. Vaughn will again be back there this year but may try to work himself into the offense a little more possibly as a scatback type. Top pick Travis Claridge (37th Overall) played well as a rookie and looks like he will be on Atlanta's offensive line for a long time. LB Mark Simoneau contributed on special teams but got his share of time on defense as well. CB Anthony Midget was the dime back but could change that with a good camp. WR Mareno Philyaw and OT Michael Thompson are both talented projects for the future.
