PROSPECT PROFILE
DEUCE McALLISTER
|
Deuce McAllister is as talented as any other back to come out over the last few years. At 6'1, 220 lbs., he is a big back. However, his speed (4.38) is as good or better than many backs smaller than him. McAllister has a good inside-outside game. Outside he is a great open field runner with a fine burst and good acceleration. Inside he has that same burst through the hole and will lower his shoulder. Still, he tends to run too upright at times. McAllister is also a threat coming out of the backfield as a receiver. In fact, he was arguably the Rebels' best receiver in 2000. As a blocker, McAllister is inexperienced. He was not used much as a pass protector at Ole Miss. He will need work on that as a pro. Another concern is that McAllister has had a few injuries over the course of his college career. Including a nagging shoulder injury. Still, his size and versatility should allow him to be an every down back. McAllister's talents all but guarantee a top five pick, possibly the first overall. |
