Big expectations for the Hurricanes this year. With Butch Davis on to the NFL, the reigns have been handed over to Larry Coker. Coker has already done a great job recruiting and looks to lead the 'Canes to the National Championship.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

QB Ken Dorsey returns to lead the offense. Many consider him a Heisman candidiate. Dorsey's run to the Heisman won't be easy though. With Santana Moss, Reggie Wayne and Andre King in the NFL, Doresy has to find new targets to throw to. Sr. Daryl Jones willl have to step up. Dorsey will have TE Jeremy Shockey to throw to. Shockey proved to be a weapon as he made his mark by catching the winning TD against Florida State. Dorsey should have lots of time to throw. Massive (6'9, 330) OT Bryant McKinnie is a top three NFL prospect. On the other side Joquain Gonzalez has NFL scouts watching as well. Also benefiting from the line will be a great group of runners. Clinton Portis and Najeh Davenport return. Portis will be the starter at Halfback and Davenport (6'3, 220) may move to Fullback. Two runners to watch are So. Willis McGahee, a prep star who has been compared to Edgerrin James and Jarrett Payton who redshirted last year. McGahee is the future at RB. On defense, replacing Dan Morgan will be key. Howard Clark is the favorite to do so but DJ Williams is moving to LB. Williams was the nation's top recruit last year but tried Fullback which didn't work. He should be an impact Linebacker. On the front line, Damione Lewis is gone but William Joseph returns. A wild card is DE Santonio Thomas who transferred from Florida and can get to the QB. The secondary is the strength of the team. CB Mike Rumph and S Edward Reed could both be 1st Round picks. CB Phillip Buchannan has a lot of experience and Sophomore S Carl Walker may emerge. The Canes need to find a return man to replace Moss.
