Jamar was considered by many the top CB in the nation last year and one
of the top overall defensive players as well. However, that doesn't mean
he'll be the first CB selected. In fact, he probably won't. Fletcher has
outstanding athletic ability. His cover skills are among the best ever
seen in college football. He blanketed David Terrell, this year's #1 WR,
for much of their matchup. He also has a nose for the football, often coming
up with game saving INT's like he did twice in 2000. Fletcher may have
skills but his size is the main concern. Can he be effective jamming at
the line? Can he take on 250 lb Fullbacks on sweeps? How is he going to
contend with the taller receivers? Those questions are yet to be answered
but Fletcher has shown he can play and that's all that counts. He will
be a first rounder probably somewhere between picks 8 and 20. |
