THE CLASS OF 2005
Here is how the first round may
look in 2005.
1.KEVIN JONES - RB - Virgina Tech
There haven't been many with his
size and speed combination. His 4.23 in the forty, if accurate is incredible
and definitely NFL stock.
2.DJ SHOCKLEY - QB - Georgia
He's not ranked as the top QB
in this class but something tells me Shockley will become a star at Georgia
and become a top NFL prospect.
3.MARQUISE HILL - DT - LSU
Again, he's not ranked as the
top DT but the 6'8 Hill has the ability to become a dominant SEC player
and become a top notch NFL prospect.
4.REGGIE WILLIAMS - WR - Washington
They just don't make much better
athletes. The 6'4 Williams runs a 4.3 and also is one of the best leapers
in the country. He has star written al over him.
5.DOMINIC ROBINSON - CB - Florida
State
Robinson has been touted as the
next Deion Sanders. He has Deion type athletic ability and if Florida State's
past defensive success is any indication, Robinson should become a star.
6.ROSCOE CORSBY - WR - Clemson
Another great athlete at wideout.
Just a prediction but Crosby and QB Willie Simmons should form a great
duo for the tigers.
7.LEON WILLIAMS - LB - Miami
What an incredible athlete. He's
built like a Linebacker and he hits like one. The Cane's tradition at LB
isn't too shabby either.
8.JONATHON SCOTT - OL - Texas
This guy is huge and quick. He
should become a top player for the Longhorns.
9.TOMMIE HARRIS - DT - Oklahoma
The #1 DT in the nation and it's
easy to see why. Harris dominated high school opponents and now looks to
do the same for the Sooners.
10.ADRIAN McPHERSON - QB - Florida
State
This guy has NFL type talent.
At 6'5, he's tall, and he's fast (4.55). Also a star on the hardwood, McPherson
may the the Noles' QB of the future.
11.MATTHEW WARE - CB - UCLA
A 6'4 CB with 4.4 speed. Scary.
What's scarier is that Ware could also be a top QB prospect. It looks like
he will be a CB though.
12.MARCUS SPEARS - TE - LSU
An outstanding combination of
size, speed and hands. Spears could become a dominant Tight End and along
with MIchael Clayton, catch a lot of passes for the Tigers.
13.JABARI DAVIS - RB - Tennessee
The J-Train is a bulldozer in
the Jerome Bettis mold. Combine his 230 lbs with 4.6 speed and you have
a scary combination for defenses.
14.BLAKE LARSEN - OL - Iowa
Larsen is huge and tough. Just
the kind of player that the Big 10 sends to the NFL every year.
15.MICHAEL CRAVEN - LB - USC
This guy has NFL written all over
him. A 6'2 frame with 4.45 speed and a 4.2 GPA. It doesn't hurt that he's
a Junior Seau clone either.
16.LARRY FITZGERALD - WR - Pittsburgh
He's not that highly ranked but
the 6'4 Fitzgerald has 4.4 speed and freakish athletic ability. He was
a Viking ball boy where he became Randy Moss and Cris Carter's protege.
17.CEDRIC BENSON - RB - Texas
This guy could become a star.
He's not blazingly fast but runs tough and runs hard. He has an Emmitt
Smith type running style and that's not too bad.
18.CHAUNCEY DAVIS - DE - Florida
State
The Seminoles put DE's in the
draft every year and Davis is a great athlete who could become the next
great 'Noles pass rusher.
19.EARNEST SHAZOR - S - Michigan
He's 6'4 and has 4.5 speed. He
hits like a LB but covers like a S. A great prospect.
20.KEVIN SIMON - LB - Tennessee
A speedy LB who isn't big but
makes plays. Should carry on a great Vols tradition on defense
21.BRYAN RANDALL - QB - Virgina
Tech
He's not Michael Vick but then
again, who is? On the other hand, he's bigger than Vick and a good runner
in his own right. He should form a great combo with RB Kevin Jones.
22.JAMI HIGHTOWER - OT - Texas
A&M
A big body with good athleticism.
Should help that Aggie run game out.
23.SHAUN CODY - DE - USC
A wonderful athlete who is a great
pass rusher. He could become a dominant force for the Trojans and has the
athletic ability to play at the next level.
24.JOE MAUER - QB - Florida State
If he doesn't committ to baseball
and makes himself a football player (much like Drew Henson did) Mauer could
move way up on this list.
25.STERLING HICKS - WR - North
Carolina State
Torry Holt, Koren Robinson and
now maybe Hicks. At 6'2 with a long stride, he may remind many people of
Robinson but he and QB Phillip Rivers should create a name for their own.
26.MARLIN JACKSON - CB - Michigan
A physical corner who should help
Michigan's woes in the secondary. Should make a great team with Earnest
Shazor.
27.JOE HUCKEBA - LB - Arkansas
A great athlete with size and
speed and should become the leader of the Hog defense.
28.DEREK ANDERSON - QB - Oregon
State
Don't be surprised if Anderson
leads the Beavers just as far as Jonathon Smith did. His huge 6'6 frame
and big arm should remind PAC-10 fans of Drew Bledsoe.
29.AHMAD CARROL - CB - Florida
State
"The Batman" is a 6'0 corner with
4.3 speed and is famous for delivering big hits on WRs.
30.PIERRE WOODS - DE - Michigan
A great talent with great pass
rushing skills. Woods should be a great NFL prospect with some added weight.
31.CARNELL WILLIAMS - RB - Alabama
Last season the Tide really missed
Shaun Alexander. Williams is the big time back the Tide need to get back
to the top.
32.CHARLES RUSH - DT - Penn State
Rush and LB Leon Williams aren't
Arrington and Brown, but they are both immensly talented and should both
be in the NFL someday.
