PROSPECT PROFILE
LAMONT JORDAN
|
Lamont Jordan could
have been a first round pick a year ago but elected to stay in school.
Now as he comes out this year, he is again rated as a first rounder. Often
compared to Emmit Smith, Jordan is a good cutback runner with excellent
feet. He hits the hole hard and doesn't make his move until he's through.
Jordan is a good receiver out of the backfield. He can be effective on
swings and screen plays out of the backfield. There are a few knocks against
Jordan though. He's not a great blocker. He needs to develop that part
of his game since pass protection is so vital in the pros. Also, while
he has some good quickness, he does not have breakaway speed. Although
he has had some long runs in his career.
Right now there isn't a clear cut number two running back behind McAllister. If Jordan has good workouts and possibly a strong Seinor Bowl performance, he could be the guy. |
