MICHIGAN
WOLVERINES

It seem like it may be a rebuilding year. David Terrell, Anthony Thomas and four Offensive Linemen are gone to the NFL. Lloyd Carr and Michigan fans know though, that this is still a very talented team and one capable of winning the Big Ten and securing a BCS bowl bid. The future also looks bright as many freshman played well last year and this year's recruiting class is one of the country's best. The cupboard is always full in Ann Arbor.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Drew Henson's decision to play baseball hurts. With Henson, the sky was the limit. John Navarre proved last year that he can play but he will have to step his game up another level. His best games were against inferior competition and it won't be as easy this year. Especially the second game of the year at Washington. Gone is David Terrell, but Michigan is far from dry at WR. Marquise Walker looks like a 1st Round pick himself and where he lacks Terrell's big play ability, he make up for it with consistent play. Ronald Bellamy is slated to start at the other WR spot. Bellamy can fly. He may take over the big play department. a wild card is 6'5 Tyrece Butler. The A-Train is gone but Chris Perry played well as a Freshman and will start the year as the starter. Perry will get some stiff competition in the fall from super recruit Kelly Baraka. Baraka has the breakaway speed to complement Perry's bruising style. Both will have the pleasure of running behind big time FB BJ Askew. The offensive line will need to be rebuilt but Ben Mast returns and Leo Heinge is a great recruit. Defensively, the talent is there. Dan Rumishek returns to lead the front and the Linebacking group is athletic. Victor Hobson has NFL scouts watching closely while Larry Foote is the leader on defense. Youngsters Larry Stevens and Alain Kaishama played well as Freshman. More super freshman arrive this fall. Pat Massey and Pierre Woods are two great DEs who can play right away. Two recruits will help in the secondary as well. S Earnest Shazor and CB Marlin Jackson are both ranked in the top 10 at their positions. They will join Todd Howard, Julius Curry and Jeremy LeSuer who were all there last year. A recruit from last year Markus Curry got his academics together and will join the team this year. On special teams look for Bellamy to electrify, and Baraka, Markus Curry and Fr. David Underwood to vye for return jobs.
