The Pick: JULIUS PEPPERS - DE - North Carolina
WHY THEY'RE #1 They're an expasion team, they have to pick 1st.
WHY TAKE PEPPERS? Why not? The Texans would ideally love a QB to
build their franchise around, but Peppers is a franchise DE. He may be the best athlete in this draft. Unless the Texans become enamored with Jason Thomas and want to trade down, Peppers should be the pick.
The Pick: BRYANT McKINNIE - OT - Miami
WHY THEY'RE #2 Inexperience at QB, tough division, they pick high
WHY TAKE MCKINNIE? John Henderson would draw serious thought here
but the Panthers need to protect their QB whoever that may be. Free Agent Todd Steussie has the spot right now but a young stud like McKinnie doesn't come along very often. Chris Weinke will appreciate this pick.
The Pick: JOHN HENDERSON - DT - Tennessee
WHY THEY'RE #3 Not much defense, Jake Plummer's INT count.
WHY TAKE HENDERSON? The failed 1st Round Defensive Linemen grave-
yard is in Arizona but that shouldn't scare them away from Henderson. He's potentially another Reggie White. Either he or Peppers would be the perfect candidate to exorcise the Cardinal demons of the past.
The Pick: QUENTON JAMMER - CB - Texas
WHY THEY'RE #4 Questions at CB and QB and a small front 7.
WHY TAKE JAMMER? The Boys are desperate for help at CB. Dwayne
Goodrich hasn't panned out and neither Kareem Larrimore or Mario Edwards are #1 shutdown corners. They need a stud like Jammer to take out the other team's best receiver. He's also right in their backyard.
The Pick: ANDRE DAVIS - WR - Virgina Tech
WHY THEY'RE #5 Chandler's injuries, Vick's inexperience, shaky OL
WHY TAKE DAVIS? Just look at the things he and Vick did when they
were teammates! These guys have a good feel for each other. Plus Davis could be their Tim Dwight when it comes to returns. His speed fits the Falcons offense better than a Ron Johnson or Marquise Walker type.
The Pick: TJ DUCKETT - RB - Michigan State
WHY THEY'RE #6 They're improved but have problems at RB and CB
WHY TAKE DUCKETT? He's a freak of nature, that's why. He can run a
4.5 at 6'3, 255 and is the perfect grinder for the browns. James Jackson is a nice back but Duckett is the feature runner the Browns covet. If Duckett comes out, he'll go high.
The Pick: WENDELL BRYANT - DT - Wisconsin
WHY THEY'RE #7 Dillon and defense will get a few wins despite QB
WHY TAKE BRYANT? A QB might draw some interest here but Bryant
really would push the Bengal's defense into the upper echelon. They already have great young Linebackers and they could now pair Bryant with Justin Smith. If they take a QB, it will likely be Jason Thomas.
The Pick: JASON THOMAS - QB - UNLV
WHY THEY'RE #8 They'll be competitive but they have QB problems
WHY TAKE THOMAS? Cade McNown has proven that he doesn't have the
proper attitude to succeed as an NFL QB. Patience is low and neither Shane Matthews or Jim Miller can be Chicago's QB of the future. Thomas is  reminiscent of Daunte Culpepper who the Bears passed on for McNown.
The Pick: RON JOHNSON - WR - Minnesota
WHY THEY'RE #9 Lack of weapons on offense, patchwork O-Line
WHY TAKE JOHNSON? A runner would be nice here but something tells
J.R. Redmond just might be OK there. They can find a runner later in the draft. Johnson is the #1 WR that Drew Bledsoe needs. Terry Glenn's best days are behind him amd Troy Brown is a nice 3rd Down receiver.
The Pick: LITO SHEPPERD - CB - Florida
WHY THEY'RE #10 It all depends on Charlie Batch's play..
WHY TAKE SHEPPERD? He's the dynamic athlete they've been searching
for at corner. Both 1st Rounders Bryant Westbrook and Terry Fair haven't become shutdown type guys and in this division, you need cover corners. If Shepperd stays in school, look for Miami's Ed Reed here.
The Pick: CEDRIC COBBS - RB - Arkansas
WHY THEY'RE #11 No stud RB and inexperienced CBs plus no Sly Mo.
WHY TAKE COBBS? This Kansas City RB by committee needs to stop.
They need one guy to be the starter. Cobbs can be that guy. He has great size and speed and is the perfect feature back the Chiefs need. Trent Green can't do it all himself.
The Pick: LARRY TRIPLETT - DT - Washington
WHY THEY'RE #12 They're solid but the division is tough.
WHY TAKE TRIPLETT? The Bills have a soft spot in the middle of the
defense because both Ted Washington and Marcellus Wiley left. Triplett is a very strong player who can sure up the inside for Buffalo. He's be neck and neck with Bryant for #2 DT behind Henderson.
The Pick: KALIMBA EDWARDS - OLB/DE - South Carolina
WHY THEY'RE #13 Too much distraction surrounding the team.
WHY TAKE EDWARDS? He can either play the OLB position where Shawn
Barber struggled a year ago or bulk up a little and play the DE spot where both Bruce Smith and Marco Coleman's are ending. Either way, he'd fill a need.
The Pick: DeSHUAN FOSTER - RB - UCLA
WHY THEY'RE #14 They're improving but Rams and Saints are tough
WHY TAKE FOSTER? Garrison Hearst isn't the same player and the jury
is still out on Kevan Barlow. Foster when healthy is a major talent and he's already used to the west coast. He could be a great complement to Garcia and the wideouts.
The Pick: KELLY CAMPBELL - WR - Georgia Tech
WHY THEY'RE #15 They're aging and injuries will be key.
WHY TAKE CAMPBELL? R.Jay Soward has been a disaster and neither
Jimmy Smith or Keenan McCardell look like they'll be here much longer. A younger wideout like Campbell is what they need. His speed fit's this offense very well.
The Pick: MARQUISE WALKER - WR - Michigan
WHY THEY'RE #16 They're much improved a but lack a big play WR
WHY TAKE WALKER? Walker is very reliable. He catches everything
thrown his way. He has the ideal size for a WR as well. Whether it's Doug Flutie or Drew Brees, the Bolts need a go-to guy and rather than taking a chance on Antonio Bryant, they take the safe choice in Walker.
